Worship Committee

The Worship Committee will cooperate with the Pastors in developing worship services for the Congregation and will coordinate with the Personnel Ministry Chair in staffing the Director of Music Ministries position.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Join the Worship Committee

  • Serve as a Greeter*

    • Greeters help to make worship a more meaningful experience. They will be the first people that those who enter our worship space will meet, and they are responsible for much of the logistics of the service. So, in many ways, greeters are the face of Friends and the ones who make our services run smoothly and be as welcoming as possible.

  • Serve as Lay Leader*

    • Lay leaders have the distinct opportunity to assist in leading worship services by reading scripture, offering prayers, and giving offertory invitations, all of which are prepared and provided to them the week before the Sunday service for which they have volunteered.

  • Serve as Communion Steward*

    • The communion steward oversees all aspects of preparation and administration of communion by preparing the elements and the table, assisting in serving and cleaning up after the service. A detailed set of instructions is provided. Please consider volunteering for occasional service as a communion steward and help to make communion and worship a truly meaningful experience.

  • Help bake communion bread

  • Help prepare the church for liturgical changes and special occasions

  • Assist with changing of the seasonal altar cloths and banners*

  • Assist with bulletin preparation – folding and inserts on Fridays 9-11 am
