Advent is a time of waiting, silence and anticipation. To help us learn to take quiet time during the busy season of Christmas and beyond, we will be offering a time of contemplation and silence the last three Fridays of Advent, December 4, 11, & 18 at noon. During this time, we will be learning about contemplative prayer and the spiritual act of waiting.
Richard Rohr defines Contemplative prayer as “… simply sitting in silence, open to God's love and your love for God.This prayer is beyond thoughts, emotions, or sensations. Like being with a very close friend or lover, where words are not required, Centering (Contemplative) Prayer brings your relationship with God to a level deeper than conversation, to pure communion.” Advent and Christmas tend to be a time of busyness & stress, and we seem to lose ourselves and our connection to the divine during this time. Please join us as we take thirty minutes a week to re-ground ourselves to our source of calm and peace.
